Therm-IC: Treading on Thin Ice

We all know it is hard to remain focused when it is cold, especially when we are shivering and thinking our fingers and toes are going to fall off. The only thought echoing through our minds is why we left the house in the first place. It is not just our concentration that goes; performance is affected and we are not at the top of our game when the temperature plummets.

It’s nothing to do with preferring to be in front of a fire. Or that our hearts aren’t in it when it is cold – the skiing season is not in the middle of summer, after all. It has been scientifically proven that our muscles lose their tension when our core temperature drops and this affects our performance.  It also makes us more prone to injuries.

Therm-IC: Treading on Thin Ice

Our fingers and toes suffer the most. Our body draws the temperature in from our extremities to protect the vital organs. Which is all very well and good – breathing is essential, after all – no one likes losing feeling in their toes even after jumping up and down for ten minutes.

Therm-IC are on the case though. Initially focusing on heating ski boots, it didn’t take long until they were able to warm the whole body. Now you can’t blame the cold for your performance, for if you are wearing a Therm-IC Insole, then the cold is not a problem.

Slipping onto the Scene

Therm-IC began in 1975, hoping to find a heating system that could be used in ski boots. They got what they were looking for and they soon gathered momentum. With over 20 years of technology and science behind them, they are now able to keep our entire bodies warm even in the bitterest of temperatures.

Therm-IC joined Sidas in 2013, ploughing their way into the market by working with one of the leading experts in foot orthotics. Their mission was simple: find a way to make portable, heat-able and usable products that can keep the human body functioning as it should in the harshest of weather conditions.

Skiing to Success

Therm-IC has gone from strength to strength. They now have a range of socks and insoles that can be heated to different temperatures from a range of battery packs to provide warmth for up to 29 hours. That’s plenty of time to get your full day skiing in, enjoy the scenery and then do most of it all over again before you have to plug them in to recharge.

There are other benefits as well as helping you to conquer the slopes. Those who have cold feet – especially those who suffer from Raynaud’s Disease – can use the socks and insoles as a way of regulating their temperature when their normal blood flow cannot.

It is fair to say that Therm-IC certainly achieved their goal of helping to warm up the world. If you have cold feet – for any reason – then take a look at the Therm-IC range on offer here at Shoe Insoles.
