The Foot Levelers Kiosk’s NEW Option

The Foot Levelers Generation 3 Kiosk was launched in October 2020, and while it has undergone several software updates to reach its current operational state, its core principle has remained unchanged. This advanced three-dimensional, digital, laser scanning device provides healthcare professionals with highly accurate clinical data regarding their patients’ unique foot function through the Report of Findings (ROF). Furthermore, it serves as an exceptional educational tool to actively engage patients and facilitate their comprehension of the vital foot-spine connection.

When a patient steps onto the two rectangles on the scanner base, the software takes over, guiding them seamlessly through the process. Each screen smoothly transitions to the next, unveiling the distinctive story of their feet. The final screens even assist patients in making informed decisions about which custom flexible orthotics best suit their needs.

In response to valuable feedback from doctors, Foot Levelers has taken steps to enhance the Kiosk experience. As a result, we are excited to announce the upcoming release of a NEW detailed Report of Findings (ROF). It is important to note that this new feature will complement the existing ROF, rather than replacing it. Here’s a sneak peek at what you can expect:

Detailed ROF – A Step-by-Step Review

Once you have completed the patient’s scan on your Kiosk, you will have the option to select the Detailed Report of Findings. This enhanced report offers more comprehensive information and introduces new tools designed to make the results even more tailored to your patient’s unique needs:

More information about the patient’s arch loss and asymmetry, including how their level of dysfunction could affect the body. When speaking with a patient about their results, the doctor will have a comprehensive report with included verbiage to help educate the patient and encourage them to use Foot Levelers custom orthotics.
The additional findings area adds clinical weight to the report, helping to establish medical necessity for insurance purposes. This area includes information about pronation, arch loss, the gait cycle, the effects of asymmetry on the Kinetic Chain, and a new section listing symptoms and conditions. There is also a new clinical notes area for providers to add their findings.
5 Red Flags – the doctor can select evidence of the 5 Red Flags of Pronation.
Arch loss selection – the provider can select which arches have collapsed based on the scan and their own physical examination.
Patient and doctor input on symptoms and conditions – the patient will be able to select pain points during the scan process. The provider can select these pain areas and access a list of common symptoms and conditions related to the region(s) of the body. The provider can also select additional areas even if the patient did not, so that the list can be comprehensive.

We believe that the additional resources we are introducing will greatly enhance your patient interactions and assist in conveying the importance of custom orthotics. Whether you’re looking to maximize your Kiosk’s potential or considering incorporating this technology into your practice, we’re here to help.

As a dedicated healthcare professional who recognizes the significance of the feet and arches, I have spent 26 years educating healthcare providers worldwide through continuing education classes. My mission is to convey the importance of understanding the three arches of the feet and how this knowledge can elevate the level of care and communication we provide to our patients. By doing so, we become strategic partners in their ongoing health journey.

Scanning technology empowers you to educate your patients not only about the significance of healthy foot function but also about what they can do to support their well-being throughout their lives. Many practitioners struggle to find the right words to leave a lasting impact on their patients. Our goal is to inspire action and encourage patients to take steps that we genuinely believe will make a meaningful difference in their lives. The Kiosk serves as a valuable tool to help convey this message to everyone.

Regardless of the size of your practice, your core message remains constant: you are here to educate everyone about their feet and their profound influence on the rest of their body. Through this education, it becomes evident how the feet play a substantial or contributory role in biomechanical stress and the pain that individuals experience.

The Role of the ROF in Effective Patient Communication – Why It Matters

You may have observed in your own practice that consistency in your approach with each patient yields consistent results. We have witnessed the effectiveness of Foot Levelers custom orthotics in our own feet, as well as in the feet of our families, staff members, and other patients we care for. Therefore, ensuring that education and messaging reach every patient is crucial to helping them grasp how foot stabilization can enhance their quality of life.

Utilizing the ROF on the Kiosk screens empowers you to maintain this consistency with every patient. Each ROF screen presents the patient’s story with visual reminders and retrieval cues, enabling you to customize the delivery of the ROF according to your preferences as a doctor and educator.

By using the Kiosk’s ROF to educate patients about the three arches of the foot and their specific degree of dysfunction, the information is readily available to the patient, ensuring that critical points are always covered. This approach eliminates the risk of missing essential talking points and ensures a consistent message delivery, with minor variations for each patient. Ultimately, this streamlined process saves time for both the doctor and the staff, as the screens present information in a format that patients can quickly grasp.

This approach also proves valuable in clinics where office staff are trained to deliver the scanner ROF to patients. Staff members can smoothly navigate through the screens, cover the ROF, and address questions during the process. Many practitioners have found that their office staff’s frequent interactions with patients lead to more comprehensive and interactive conversations.

ROF success tips, icebreakers, and practice guidelines

1. Incorporate the Kiosk foot scan into your new patient procedure. This represents the simplest method for integrating this technology into your practice. Moreover, it serves as an excellent conversation starter. Once patients grasp that you’ll be assessing their feet and making the foot-spine connection, they often voluntarily share information about their back, knees, and pain points in other areas of their body that they may not have initially mentioned. The scan can be performed when the patient first arrives while filling out new patient forms or at the end, following the patient’s adjustment. Many offices delegate the scanning task to the staff, freeing up the doctor’s time. Personally, I prefer to scan the patient myself after their examination and treatment, as I like their joints to be properly aligned before stepping on my scanner. In truth, the timing of the scan is a matter of personal preference.

2. Whether you, as the doctor, or your staff handle the ROF, stick to the screens and let the software guide the process. We’ve already discussed these screens, and it’s evident how this presentation reduces the need for memorization while enabling all your patients to understand the information relevant to how their feet impact the rest of their body.

3. Allow the staff to be the final point of contact as the patient departs the office. Train them to inquire whether the patient has any questions about the foot scan. Let them engage in discussions with patients regarding custom orthotic costs, styles, options, the advantages of multiple pairs, Winning Combinations, warranties, and the break-in process.

4. I elucidate the distinction between custom flexible orthotics and rigid orthotics, explaining to my patients that rigid orthotics often entail a higher cost, support only one arch, and amplify shock to the body 5-7 times more than absorbing it. Foot Levelers custom orthotics are unique in that they support all three of the foot’s arches for overall body health and offer greater comfort during wear and the break-in period. These are influential points to convey to patients as they contemplate their purchase decision.

Optimal Placement of the Kiosk for Enhanced Scanning Success

The most frequented area within your office should be the prime location for your Kiosk. The greater the foot traffic passing by, the higher the likelihood that individuals will step onto the scanner for a scan. You may even find people not originally scheduled to see you curiously hopping onto the scanner because it represents cutting-edge technology, and people are inherently inquisitive about such advancements.

If your office space is limited or you’re concerned about finding the room for it, I strongly urge you to find a way to accommodate it. Over the years, I’ve positioned Foot Levelers Kiosks in various rooms within my office. Placing one in the front office has had a positive impact on both patient engagement and orders. If you’re skeptical, try situating it in the high-traffic zone of your office for a month, and observe the results for yourself.

Depending on your clinic’s size, patient volume, or workflow efficiency, it may also be beneficial to consider placing another Kiosk in the back office or in the second most heavily trafficked area of your clinic. Many offices utilize multiple Kiosks to optimize their time and streamline the scanning process for their patients.

The overarching goal is to afford every patient the opportunity to undergo a foot scan and gain insights into the vital role of foot stabilization in enhancing their overall health and maximizing the benefits of their chiropractic care.

You’ll undoubtedly appreciate the extended opportunities that the new Kiosk option offers for improved patient communication and practice success. Stay tuned for more information to come!
